I believe that men acquire knowledge by actively seeking it rather than being taught passively, as is the case with our present education system, which is based on the belief that teacher is the source of most knowledge and the students acquire knowledge by being passively taught. The idea seems to be to transfer knowledge from teacher to students, and to check if the knowledge transmitted by former has been absorbed by later via exams. The inevitable result of this is postponement of growing up. The student passes from authority of teacher to authority of state (or some organization). The present education system does very little to build character, instead much emphasis is placed on obedience. The books that you see listed to your right are unlikely to be a part of any state education system. The reason for this being same as it is for censorship or suppression of dissent-because knowledge is of a peculiar nature, once learned-no means have yet been discovered on how to make a man unlearn his knowledge. The means then must be, and always have been, obliteration of knowledge i.e. to keep a man ignorant.
