This page is about people who did the right things: ethically, morally & technically, when they found their employer was involved in unethical and/or dishonest practices; and were severly punished for speaking out. Punishment took may forms: Transfer, Demotion, Firing, Blackballing, Personal harrassement & Intimidation. The first step usually to undermine the effectiveness & reputation of the whistleblower is by isolating them. Often co-workers turn against them, friends ostracize and in some instances even spouse leave them. As one whistleblower said: Basically everyone you associate with writes you off. This experience can dramatically alter their lives and can be a rude awakening for many whistleblowers with their strong belief in individual responsibility, prefessional ethics, high moral standards and alligence to their community.
